Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, has criticized Apple for its plans to integrate ChatGPT into its products.
On June 10, Elon Musk made a post on X, saying, “If Apple integrates OpenAI at the OS level, Apple products will be banned in my companies,” adding, “This is an unacceptable security breach.”
He also noted, “Visitors will have to have their Apple devices checked at the company’s door, and these will be stored in a Faraday cage (a conductive box that blocks external electrostatic fields).”
Musk further criticized, “It’s blatantly absurd that Apple, not smart enough to create its own AI, can somehow guarantee that OpenAI will protect your security and privacy.”
On the same day, Apple held its annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2024 and announced its plans to significantly integrate AI features into the iPhone operating system iOS 18 and others. Apple introduced this AI system as Apple Intelligence, specifically stating that they would utilize ChatGPT in their voice assistant, Siri, through a partnership with OpenAI.
