Porsche’s Latest Taycan: The Fastest Electric Luxury Sedan Just Got Even Better!

Porsche is set to launch a facelift model of its Taycan, which pioneered the high-performance luxury electric vehicle (EV) market, in South Korea. Porsche Korea plans to hold a launch event for the new Taycan, which has undergone partial changes for the first time in four years and has enhanced design and driving performance, on August 22 and begin sales.

For this event, Porsche AG executives, including Kevin Giek, Vice President of Product Line Taycan, and Alexander Fabig, Vice President of Individualization and Classic at Porsche AG, will visit South Korea to introduce the new model.

The Taycan is a dedicated EV developed by Porsche. Despite its price tag of over $92,550, it has recorded cumulative sales of 4,665 units from its launch in South Korea from 2020 until July 2024, making it Porsche’s steady seller and ranking first in the high-performance luxury EV market.

The new Taycan’s battery capacity was increased to 104.6 kWh, securing a generous driving range of over 500 km (311 miles). The combined standard driving range on a single charge is 471 km (293 miles) for the base model and 515 km (320 miles) for the Performance battery Plus model. Porsche has organized the new Taycan product line into nine trims, including the Cross Turismo. The price is expected to be set at $101,395 and goes up to $231,995.

The new Taycan, considered the fastest mass-produced EV, has a top-of-the-line Turbo GT Weissach package that produces a combined maximum output of 1,034 horsepower and accelerates from a standstill to 100 km/h in 2.2 seconds. For the Weissach package, the underbody air deflectors, a new front diffuser, and a carbon rear wing were added.

The new Taycan’s charging speed has been improved. The ultra-fast charging speed has been increased by 50 kW to 320 kW compared to the previous model. The regenerative braking system improves the energy recovery rate, contributing to increased efficiency.

Air suspension comes standard on all trims, offering a more comfortable ride. The vehicle also boasts improved product quality, with new aerodynamic wheels, a passenger display, and HD matrix headlamps.

Porsche is set to boost its sales in South Korea by launching the new Taycan. Last year, Porsche sold 11,355 units, marking a 26.7% increase year-on-year. This achievement allows Porsche to join the 10,000-unit imported vehicle club in South Korea for the first time since entering the market.
