New claims suggest that Apple’s upcoming iPhone 17 Pro Max, set for release in the new year, may keep its familiar design instead of adopting a horizontal camera bar layout.

PhoneArena cited tipster Setsuna Digital, who posted on Weibo that although the device’s rear design will change, the triple camera layout will remain triangular, contrary to previous rumors suggesting a horizontal bar shape.

This contradicts earlier reports from the Chinese supply chain, which suggested that the camera module would be elongated and oval-shaped.

Speculation about a potential design change began when tipster Digital Chat Station (DCS) shared concept images of an iPhone 17 series with a Pixel-style oval camera bar.

The triangular camera layout debuted with the iPhone 11 Pro in 2019 and has persisted through the current iPhone 16 Pro model. Apple has consistently enhanced camera capabilities while maintaining this distinctive triangular camera layout.

In related news, The Information reported in November that the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max might feature a rectangular aluminum camera module on the back, replacing the current 3D glass design. The report also mentioned that the lower half of the back panel would remain glass to support wireless charging.
