Tesla recalls about 700,000 vehicles due to a faulty tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS).

On Friday, Engadget reported that Tesla plans to repair some vehicles, including the Model 3, Model Y, and Cybertruck, free of charge due to TPMS malfunctions that may cause driving problems. The report cited an announcement from the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

The recalled vehicles include the 2017-2025 Model 3, the 2020-2025 Model Y, and the 2024 Cybertruck, totaling 694,304 vehicles. The NHTSA stated that the system’s warning light may not remain on while driving.

Tesla said it will update affected vehicles and owner notification letters on February 15, 2025.

Meanwhile, Tesla vehicles have been subject to several recalls and roadside updates this year. According to the NHTSA, the Cybertruck has been recalled seven times this year alone, including for rear-view cameras, faulty wipers, and an issue with the hood opening while the vehicle is in motion.

The NHTSA commented that Tesla’s efforts in defect discovery and recall actions would serve as important lessons and urged a continued review of safety issues. In response, Tesla stated that it is committed to enhancing safety through software improvements and resolving recalls.
