Few muscle cars are as iconic as the Ford Mustang. With over 60 years of history, it’s a tuner’s dream, boasting countless aftermarket parts and customization options. Yet, one recent creation has left enthusiasts questioning whether it is still a Mustang.

This bizarre custom build, known as Rammus, blends a Mustang body with the rugged underpinnings of a Dodge Ram pickup truck. Trending across social media, the vehicle’s wild design and unexpected backstory have sparked both fascination and disbelief.

Ram pickup truck and Mustang fusion
Built at the request of an Arab royal family

The Rammus was created at the request of Hussain Albagali, a member of the United Arab Emirates royal family. In 2015, Albagali approached a local car designer with a unique vision: transforming a Mustang into a retro-styled coupe reminiscent of the 1920s. The result? A 2015 Mustang convertible body fused onto the ladder frame of a Dodge Ram pickup truck.

After renderings were revealed in 2017, the build took seven months to complete. Photos from the process reveal the Mustang’s body being stretched and adapted to fit the proportions of the Ram’s chassis, leading to a creation as puzzling as it is attention-grabbing.

1920s Retro Flair with Modern Functionality

The front end was significantly lengthened to match the Mustang’s body to Ram’s dimensions, with additional body panels and over-fenders smoothing the height disparity. Spare tires mounted on the widened front fenders add to the retro-inspired look, while the Mustang’s convertible top remains fully functional.

The rear end, however, makes the design even more unconventional. The Mustang’s taillights sit awkwardly high above a massive custom bumper and tow hook, creating a jarring contrast. The bumper and rear fenders are crafted as a single piece, seemingly without regard for practicality or repairability.

Ram Power Meets Mustang Style

Under the hood, the Rammus borrows entirely from the Dodge Ram, retaining its 6.4L V8 Hemi engine, automatic transmission, and four-wheel drive system. The oversized body leaves plenty of empty space under the hood—enough to see the ground through the engine bay. Antenna-like bars on the front corners help the driver judge the vehicle’s size, a necessary addition for such an unusual build.

While the exact cost of the Rammus remains a mystery, it’s safe to assume no expense was spared. For the UAE royal family, such extravagant customizations are par for the course.
