Hyundai’s electric semi-large SUV, the Ioniq 9, was unveiled in November this year at Goldstein House in Los Angeles, US. This model expands Hyundai’s electric vehicle series Ioniq and is expected to maximize the space in the second and third rows based on the longest wheelbase in its segment.

It is expected to conquer the market with a generous driving range of up to 542 km (337 miles) on a single charge—the exterior features Hyundai Motor Company’s latest electric vehicle design, creating a futuristic yet retro atmosphere. In particular, the pixel pattern seen in the previous Ioniq 5 and 6 has also been widely adopted this time.

Powertrain Options and Competition with the Kia EV9 GT

The upcoming Ioniq 9 will offer three different powertrain options, with the long-range AWD model standing out. This version is equipped with a 215-horsepower electric motor in the rear wheels and a 94-horsepower motor in the front, delivering a combined 309 horsepower. Thanks to its impressive performance, it’s expected to be a strong competitor to the Kia EV9.

In a similar vein, Kia unveiled the high-performance EV9 GT in November. This version boasts a dual-motor setup, producing 508 horsepower—218 horsepower at the front wheels and 367 horsepower at the rear. With the EV9 GT’s enhanced power, attention is now turning to the Ioniq 9 N, which will compete directly with the GT model.

Hyundai has already made waves in the high-performance electric vehicle market with the Ioniq 5 N, and the Ioniq 9 N is expected to continue pushing boundaries in this segment.

Design Focus for the Ioniq 9 N: A Sportier, High-Performance Look

Hyundai has also announced plans to develop the Ioniq 9 N model. In a press interview at the Ioniq 9 unveiling event, Simon Loasby, Head of the Hyundai Styling Group at the Hyundai Design Center, disclosed that the company is developing the Ioniq 9 N as part of two special projects, the N division and the XRT, which are separate from its regular vehicle lineup.

While the Ioniq 9 is expected to show powerful performance, the focus is also on its design. Since the Ioniq 5 N also applied designs to show a high-performance image, the Ioniq 9 N is expected to have a different design from the general model. It oversees virtual recently rendering designer released related expected images, which became a hot topic.

What to Expect from the Ioniq 9 N

If you look closely, you can see that the bumper has changed to give a sporty feel at the front. The angular front lip and square air intake pattern were applied to the Ioniq 5 N, and the red line was added to give it visual points. The red line that runs under the bumper continues to the side. In addition, the large door molding harmonizes well.

For the rear, a rear diffuser with vertical emphasis is installed. It applies a unique design point and harmonizes with the black and red colors. The large rear diffuser stands out in line with the large body size of the semi-large SUV Ioniq 9. In addition, the large panoramic pixel lamp that wraps around the rear glass and tailgate is in harmony.
