Mazda has unveiled the updated version of its mid-size crossover SUV, the CX-60, which will soon be available in the Japanese market. Official sales will begin on February 21, 2025, and Mazda already accepts reservations. Prices for the updated model start at 3,267,000 yen (around $20,707) and go up to 6,462,500 yen (around $40,962).

This latest update significantly improves ride quality, enhancing comfort while retaining the CX-60’s sporty handling characteristics. New trims, including the XD SP, which emphasizes a sporty design, and the XD Hybrid Trekker, tailored for outdoor enthusiasts, have also been added to the lineup.

Suspension settings have been readjusted.
New trims with sporty looks have also been added

Mazda has refined the suspension setup for this updated model with new springs and dampers to improve vehicle stability and overall ride quality. The electric power steering system and all-wheel-drive (AWD) capabilities have also been optimized, and measures have been taken to reduce noise and vibrations during driving, making for a quieter cabin.

The XD SP trim, which brings a sportier edge to the CX-60, comes equipped with 20-inch aluminum wheels and a sleek black-painted exterior for a more sophisticated look. Exterior changes include a hexagonal honeycomb grille, black chrome side garnish, a signature wing, and black chrome door mirrors and wheels painted in black metallic, making it a stand-out option for those seeking a more aggressive appearance.

Agile driving through engine weight reduction
Quietness also improved through the improvement

Under the hood, the CX-60 is powered by a 3.3L inline 6-cylinder diesel engine designed for agility and improved performance. The engine’s simple structure results in a weight comparable to that of a 4-cylinder engine, enhancing acceleration response, reducing nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions at high RPMs, and improving thermal efficiency. These engineering advancements have also contributed to superior handling, providing sporty driving dynamics and comfort for everyday use.

The XD SP, priced at 4,125,000 yen (about $26,146), adds a sportier edge to the CX-60 while enhancing the driving experience. Additionally, Mazda has introduced a special edition of the CX-60, the XD Hybrid Trekker, which offers a new Zircon Sand Metallic color that complements outdoor adventures. This special edition also has a standard panoramic sunroof and a partition net to prevent luggage from spilling into the cabin during sudden stops.

The XD Hybrid Trekker also gets chrome plating on the side signature garnish and technology badge, replacing the black signature in the XDL package and XD exclusive mode. This model combines the 3.3L inline 6-cylinder diesel engine with an M hybrid boost (48V mild hybrid) system, delivering powerful acceleration and improved fuel efficiency. This special edition’s price is 5,527,500 yen (about $35,036).

With the updated CX-60 now available for pre-order, Mazda is attracting attention in the competitive SUV market, especially with its new trims and performance-oriented features.
