Volkswagen’s ID.4 is making waves in the Korean electric SUV market. It is quickly establishing itself as a formidable competitor in the entry-level category. The attractive price point, spacious interior, and impressive driving dynamics are turning heads and winning over consumers.

The ID.4 strikes a sweet spot in practicality for everyday use. Larger electric SUVs can push the $69,000 mark for top-tier trims, making them a hefty investment in both size and cost. Smaller electric SUVs, though more budget-friendly, often feel cramped for daily driving. The ID.4 offers a compelling middle ground, providing the most rational choice.

The Volkswagen ID.4 stands out for its exceptional value proposition in the imported electric SUV category. Compared to the Volvo EX30, which is in a similar $27,600 price range, the ID.4 edges ahead with its more generous passenger and cargo space, making it particularly appealing to families. It also outperforms competitors like the BMW iX3 and Polestar 2 regarding practicality and affordability.

For the 2025 model, Volkswagen has improved the ID.4 by introducing an enhanced electric drivetrain and cutting-edge features. The improved powertrain significantly enhances two critical factors for EV buyers: range and performance.

The upgraded electric motor now delivers an impressive 286 horsepower (PS) and 55.6 kg.m of torque, a substantial 40% increase in power and a 75% boost in torque compared to its predecessor. This translates to a brisk 0-60 mph time of just 6.7 seconds and a top speed of 112 mph.

Range anxiety becomes less concerned with the 2025 ID.4, which boasts a certified range of up to 263 miles (280 miles in city driving and 243 miles on the highway) on a single charge. Fast-charging capabilities have also been improved, with the ability to charge from 10% to 80% in about twenty-eight minutes—a 30% improvement over the previous model.
