Mercedes-Benz is expanding its AMG SL lineup by launching the all-new Mercedes-AMG SL 43 roadster. This new addition to the luxury roadster market has already caught the attention of car enthusiasts, thanks to its aggressive pricing strategy that undercuts competitors by up to 100 million won (approximately $69,340).

The Mercedes-AMG SL 43 continues a rich heritage that traces back to the legendary 300 SL racing car, first unveiled in 1952. After successfully launching the high-performance SL 63 4MATIC+ in 2023, Mercedes-Benz is further strengthening its portfolio by introducing the SL 43.

This new model’s heart is a 2.0-liter, inline, four-cylinder, turbocharged gasoline engine (M139), crafted with Mercedes-AMG’s One Man, One Engine philosophy. This powertrain also incorporates an electrically assisted turbocharger derived from Formula 1 technology, offering enhanced responsiveness and performance.

Coupled with a 48V mild-hybrid system, the SL 43 delivers an impressive 421 horsepower and 51 kg-m of torque. With this setup, the SL 43 can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.7 seconds.

Blending Luxury with Everyday Practicality

The AMG SL 43 is not just about power; it’s designed to be practical for everyday use. It offers a 2+2 seating configuration and a soft top that opens or closes in just 15 seconds, even at speeds up to 60 km/h.

For extra comfort in colder weather, the SL 43 is equipped with Mercedes’ Airscarf system. This system blows warm air from the headrests, allowing you to enjoy open-air driving even when temperatures drop.

The exterior design pays homage to the iconic 300 SL while bringing a modern twist. With features like round exhaust outlets and a smoothly sculpted rear bumper, the SL 43 exudes a sleek and sophisticated appearance.

Inside, the SL 43 follows a hyper-analog concept, merging classic analog design with modern digital elements. It boasts a 12.3-inch instrument cluster and an 11.9-inch central touchscreen, offering both style and functionality.

Remarkable Price Competitiveness Compared to Competing Models

The Mercedes-AMG SL 43 offers remarkable price competitiveness in the luxury roadster segment. While rivals like the Lexus LC500 Convertible and Porsche 911 Carrera 4 GTS Cabriolet are priced around 177.8 million won (approximately $123,280) and 255.8 million won (approximately $176,502), respectively, the SL 43 starts at a more attainable 155.6 million won (approximately $107,888), including VAT and reflecting individual consumption tax reductions.

Even when compared to higher-end models like the Maserati GranCabrio Trofeo (about 312.25 million won, approximately $215,507) and the Audi R8 Spyder (about 257.57 million won, approximately $178,593), the SL 43 offers a significantly more affordable entry point into the luxury roadster market.

In addition, Mercedes-Benz will offer a limited edition called the Great White Edition in South Korea. Inspired by the dynamic image of the Great White Shark, the edition is priced at 168.6 million won (approximately $116,905) and has only 17 units available. This special model adds extra exclusivity to the already appealing SL 43 Roadster.
