[JoyNews24 Reporter Jeong Ji Won] Korean pop group NewJeans has been nominated in two categories at the “2024 iHeartRadio Music Awards” in the United States.

According to the list of nominees announced by the iHeartRadio Music Awards on the 18th (local time), NewJeans (members Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, Hyein) has been nominated for Kpop Song of the Year and Best New Artist (K-Pop). The iHeartRadio Music Awards is a music awards ceremony hosted by the American online radio station iHeartRadio since 2014. Awards will be given to the most played artists and songs on iHeartRadio stations and apps during that time. This year’s award ceremony will be held on April 1st in Los Angeles, USA.

NewJeans’ “Super Shy,” nominated for Kpop Song of the Year, is the title track of their second EP, Get Up, released in July last year. Upon release, it stormed global charts, including the U.S. Billboard charts. The song stayed on the Billboard main song chart Hot 100 for eight weeks, peaking at number 48, and has surpassed 400 million plays on Spotify, the world’s largest music streaming platform.

Following their nominations at last year’s MTV Video Music Awards (MTV VMA) and Billboard Music Awards (BBMAs), NewJeans continues to prove their global influence and status by being nominated for this year’s iHeartRadio Music Awards. Based on their global popularity, NewJeans won the Top Global K-pop Artist award at the 2023 Billboard Music Awards.
