The box office hit Wicked soundtrack album has been released in the global music market.
Released on Friday, “Wicked: The Soundtrack” has garnered significant attention from music fans thanks to the film’s popularity.
The album features 11 iconic songs from the movie. It includes beloved tracks from the Wicked musical, such as “Defying Gravity,” “Popular,” and “The Wizard and I,” perfectly encapsulating the film’s musical magic.
Starring Grammy-winning pop star Ariana Grande and British actress Cynthia Erivo, who has won both Tony and Grammy awards, Wicked demanded exceptional vocal performances from all cast members, a hallmark of musical films.
According to the production team, all songs were recorded live during filming, ensuring stable vocals even during complex action and wire scenes.
In a video shared on the official Wicked social media account, Ariana Grande expressed her happiness about portraying Glinda. She said she especially loved bringing to the screen the moments where Glinda, known for her exaggerated motions, reveals subtle nuances.
Oscar-winner Michelle Yeoh also showcased her musical talents in the role of Madame Morrible, the headmistress of Shiz University.
Wicked tells the story of Elphaba (Cynthia Erivo), who has yet to discover her true power, and Glinda (Ariana Grande), who is searching for her true self, exploring their friendship and adventures.
The film premiered worldwide in South Korea on Wednesday, attracting over 84,000 viewers on its first day and topping the box office.
It continues to lead in advance ticket sales, maintaining its strong performance.
