Attention is focused on whether the members of BTS will bring news of winning awards at the U.S 2024 iHeartRadio Music Awards while serving their military service.

Three members of K-pop megaband BTS — Jungkook, J-Hope, and V — have secured five nominations for the 2024 iHeartRadio Music Awards, announced on the 18th (local time).

J-Hope, V, and Jungkook have been nominated for Best Music Video, Favorite On Screen, Favorite Debut Album, Kpop Artist Of The Year, and Kpop Song Of The Year.

The iHeartRadio Music Awards is an annual music awards ceremony organized by the U.S. online radio broadcaster iHeartRadio since 2014. The awards honor artists and songs most played on iHeartRadio stations and applications throughout the year. This year’s ceremony is scheduled for April 1st in Los Angeles, USA.

J-Hope was nominated for ‘Favorite On Screen’ for the HYBE original documentary J-Hope IN THE BOX, which covers the album production process and various activities of his first official solo album, Jack In The Box. In the Favorite On-Screen category this year, he competes with notable works such as Beyoncé’s world tour documentary film Renaissance: A FILM by Beyoncé and Taylor Swift’s live performance film Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour.

V and Jungkook have been nominated in the Favorite Debut Album category for their first solo albums, Layover and GOLDEN. Layover and GOLDEN entered the Billboard 200 in the second position simultaneously, achieving a remarkable feat comparable to Jimin’s FACE and Suga’s D-DAY. GOLDEN remained on the Billboard 200 for ten consecutive weeks, making it the longest-charting album among K-pop solo artists.

Jungkook, with nominations in four categories, including Best Music Video, Kpop Artist Of The Year, and Kpop Song Of The Year, set a new record for the most nominations by a solo K-pop artist. In the Best Music Video category, Jungkook’s solo singles “Seven (feat. Latto)” and “3D (feat. Jack Harlow)” were both nominated. In this category, Jungkook, who is the only artist to have more than one song nominated this year, competes with songs that have topped the Billboard Hot 100, such as Doja Cat’s “Paint The Town Red” and Olivia Rodrigo’s “Vampire.”

This year, the iHeartRadio Music Awards introduced a K-pop category, reflecting K-pop’s increased global stature. Jungkook is the only solo artist nominated for Kpop Artist Of The Year, and his song “Seven” was nominated for Kpop Song Of The Year. “Seven” achieved Billboard Hot 100 1st place directly, stayed on the chart for 15 weeks, and set remarkable records, such as reaching 1 billion streams worldwide on Spotify in the shortest period (108 days), according to Spotify.

BTS was nominated for the Best Fan Army category, demonstrating their enduring popularity as a group. They have been nominated in this category for seven consecutive years, from 2018 to this year. Attention is focused on whether BTS, who won this award in all six previous years, will again win the Best Fan Army this year.
