The Chameleon-like Charm of Shin Hyun Bin, a Graduate of the Korea National University of Arts (K-Arts)

Fulfilling a dream is always romantic and progressive, but it can also be a source of worry and difficulty.

After a long struggle to achieve their dreams, many people find that they are not suited for their chosen path and either seek a different dream or suffer. This is why we often face the famous dilemma of “what I want to do” vs “what I’m good at”.

Today, let’s take a look at actress Shin Hyun Bin, who was admitted to the art department at K-Arts through intense competition but gave up due to lack of aptitude and restarted as an actress, eventually receiving a lot of love as “Jang Gyeo Wool” in the Korean drama Hospital Playlist.

‘I guess I have no talent…’ The Struggles of a K-Arts Art Student

Shin Hyun Bin majored in art at the Korea National University of Arts.

At the time of the entrance exam, the competition was fierce as only about ten people were admitted, but after being admitted, she felt discouraged because she felt she had no talent compared to her peers. As a result, Shin Hyun-bin decided to switch to acting, a dream she had since childhood, rather than pursuing her major.

After auditioning for several works, Shin Hyun Bin debuted in the film He’s on Duty in 2010.

Shin Hyun-bin played the role of “Jang Mi,” a Vietnamese woman who meets the protagonist “Bang Tae Sik” at work. Her acting was so realistic that some viewers mistook Shin Hyun Bin for a natural Vietnamese person.

Despite being her debut work, Shin Hyun Bin delivered an extraordinary performance and finished her debut year by winning the Newcomer Award at the Baeksang Arts Awards.

She is also known as an actress who specializes in death

Shin Hyun Bin, who emerged as a spotlighted newcomer actress, broke through a competition rate of 500 to 1. She was cast as the protagonist in the drama Warrior Baek Dong-soo, earning recognition for her acting skills.

Despite this, the adjective ‘death specialist actress’ always followed Shin Hyun-bin at the time.

In both films, Confidential Assignment and Seven Years of Night, she met her death early on. Especially in Confidential Assignment, she was murdered while pregnant, which was particularly heartbreaking. She also appeared as one of the victims of the Daegu subway disaster in the movie Cheer Up, Mr. Lee, and she died in that role as well.

Shin Hyun Bin often appeared as someone’s wife. She has a deep connection with Ha Jung Woo and Kim Jun Han, playing the role of their wives twice, each in different works.

The work that made Shin Hyun Bin stand out the most is the drama series Hospital Playlist. She appeared as Jang Gyeo Wool, a general surgery resident, and showed her charm through her blunt but honest character.

In particular, “Dr. Ahn Jung Won,” played by Yoo Yeon Seok, who hoped to become a priest, showed pure love for Jang Gyeo Wool to the point of giving up his dream, which received a lot of support from many people.

On the 16th, Shin Hyun Bin left a deep impression in the final episode of the drama Tell Me That You Love Me, released on GenieTV Original.

Cha Jin Woo (played by Jung Woo Sung) and Jung Mo Eun (played by Shin Hyun Bin) overcome the pain of their breakup and choose each other again, weaving a heartwarming, happy ending.

Shin Hyun-bin has shown her endless charm in many works as a lead actress, including Hospital Playlist, Reflection of You, Reborn Rich, and Monstrous.

Like a chameleon that changes its appearance according to the situation, no matter what role she takes on, she perfectly digests it with her charm, and we look forward to the future activities of actress Shin Hyun-bin.

In the meantime, there is much speculation about season 3 of Hospital Playlist, which received a lot of love. Still, there has been no official announcement about the conclusion of season 2, which has been a year now, and the fans’ voices are growing louder.
