Chinese Influencers Earn More Than Hollywood Stars

tvreport Views

Many domestic influencers in South Korea are making an income of hundreds of millions of won annually. As a result, a significant number of elementary school students are choosing to become influencers as their future careers.

So, how much do influencers adored by ‘1.4 billion’ people in the neighboring country, China, earn?

According to Singapore’s weekly paper ‘8 Days’ on the 28th, the income of Chinese influencers for 2023 was announced at the Guangdong E-commerce Summit Forum. Here are the top 5.

Ranked 5th is The Boss Seven, the only female influencer in the top 5. She gained popularity through comedy content on TikTok and has 6 million followers. Her annual net income was revealed to be 263.4 million yuan (approximately 37 million US dollars).

Ranked 4th is Dong Yuwei who achieved an income of 522.6 million yuan (approximately 73 million US dollars). Rather than simply promoting products like other influencers, he attracted fans’ attention with a unique presentation method using a whiteboard.

Ranked 3rd is Austin Li Jiaqi, a beauty influencer. Known as the ‘King of Lipstick’ for selling 15,000 lipsticks in just 5 minutes, he rose to stardom by ranking first in annual net income in 2021.

He earned an income of 2.3 billion yuan (approximately 324 million US dollars) in 2023.

Ranked 2nd is Xin Youji who recorded an income of 3.06 billion yuan (approximately 431 million US dollars).

Xin Youji was embroiled in a scandal over false advertising in 2020. This was due to the fact that the main ingredients stated in the products sold by Xin Youji were barely added. Xin Youji recalled all the sold products and provided refunds and compensation.

Last November, TikTok blocked Xin Youji’s account on charges of repeatedly posting false information, but he showed an indifferent attitude by saying, “I don’t care.”

The controversy surrounding Xin Youji does not seem to have significantly affected his income.

Ranked 1st is Crazy Little Young Brother, who achieved an income of 3.21 billion yuan (approximately 452 million US dollars).

He is a co-founder of an E-commerce company and has contracts with several popular influencers. In November 2022, he set a record of all time by becoming the first TikTok account to reach 100 million followers.
