Global audiences fall for Past Lives as the critically acclaimed drama generates pre-release excitement before hitting South Korean screens.

Past Lives, a love story told through the lens of two interconnected lives between Seoul and New York, has garnered rave reviews from foreign media and critics since its premiere at the 39th Sundance Film Festival. With award wins at major U.S. critic associations, the film promises an emotional journey for audiences worldwide.

Past Lives began its award season with a bang, winning Best Film and Best New Film at the Gotham and New York Critics Circle Awards, respectively. Its critical acclaim translated to five nominations, including Best Film, at the Independent Spirit Awards, further solidifying its position as a potential Oscar contender.

With 72 awards and 212 nominations, the critically acclaimed film Past Lives is a frontrunner for the 2024 Oscars. Nominated for Best Picture and Best Screenplay at the Academy Awards, the film marks a historic moment: the third time a female director was nominated for Best Picture with her debut film and the first time for an Asian female director.

Past Lives continues to break barriers. Actor Teo Yoo became the first Korean actor nominated for Best Actor at the BAFTAs. At the same time, director Celine Song won the Best New Director award at the DGA Awards, making her the first Korean director to do so. With anticipation building around the Oscars, all eyes are on Past Lives as it embarks on its South Korean release.

Past Lives will be released in theaters in South Korea on March 6.
