BTS V has become the first artist to surpass 2 million copies sold in the first week of the solo album release. According to data released by Hanteo Chart on the 15th, V’s solo album Layover, released on the 8th, sold 2,101,974 copies as of the previous day, achieving the status of a “double million seller.”
With this, V has set the record for the highest first-week sales for a K-pop solo album. He also earned the title of the first artist to surpass 2 million copies sold in both group (BTS) and solo activities.
BTS’ power has been proven through solo activities as well. So far, only 5 solo artists have surpassed 1 million copies sold in the first week on the Hanteo Chart. The top three were V, Jimin (FACE/1.454 million copies), and Suga (D-DAY/1.277 million copies). These three artists became a million sellers on the first day of the album release, demonstrating their immense popularity.
Meanwhile, V’s solo album Layover means ‘to take a break’ and symbolizes a time to reflect on the past and reconsider the final destination. The album includes a total of 6 songs, including the title track, “Slow Dancing,” pre-released songs, “Rainy Days,” “Love Me Again,” “Blue,” “For Us,” and a bonus track, “Slow Dancing (Piano Ver.).”
V will appear on KBS2’s Music Bank, which will be broadcast at 5:15 PM (Korean time) on the 15th.
