Tragedy struck in Goseong County, South Gyeongsang Province, as a man in his 70s was found dead after being swept away by floodwaters caused by heavy rain.
According to News1, the South Gyeongsang Fire Department and Goseong Police Station reported receiving a call from a resident around 6:05 a.m. on the 6th, claiming they had found a person presumed to be missing.
The fire department retrieved the victim from a nearby agricultural waterway around 6:49 a.m., roughly 12 hours after the search began.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene and has since been transferred to a nearby hospital.
At around 5:33 p.m. on the 5th, there was a report of a person being swept away in an agricultural waterway near the Daega Reservoir in Daega-myeon. The fire department and police ended the search around 8:10 p.m. without finding the victim.

The police are investigating the exact cause of the accident, suspecting the victim may have lost his footing while walking on a paddy field path.
According to the South Gyeongsang Province Disaster and Safety Management Headquarters, as of 6 a.m. on the 6th, the average accumulated rainfall in South Gyeongsang Province since the 5th is 108.3 mm (4.27 inches). Namhae recorded the most rainfall at 260.6 mm (10.26 inches).
Other areas recorded significant rainfall as well, with Hadong receiving 234.5 mm (9.23 inches), Jinju 156.5 mm (6.16 inches), Changwon 133.3 mm (5.25 inches), and Goseong in South Gyeongsang Province 113.0 mm (4.45 inches).
