The former NATO Secretary General suggested that Ukraine may need to cede some territory currently occupied by Russia to resolve the Russia-Ukraine conflict.

According to Nikkei, on Tuesday, Stoltenberg proposed that Ukraine ceding some land could be a viable route to peace, potentially accelerating a resolution to the war.

Stoltenberg, who served as NATO’s Secretary General from 2014 until stepping down in October, also led Norway’s Labour Party and served as Prime Minister from 2005 to 2013. In his final years at NATO, he played a key role in securing support for Ukraine, rallying both the United States and European allies amidst Russia’s invasion.
