ChatGPT, the generative AI tool from OpenAI with 250 million users worldwide, experienced connectivity issues around 9 AM on Thursday.
OpenAI promptly addressed the outage on their official X (formerly Twitter) account, stating, “We’re experiencing an outage right now. We have identified the issue and are working to roll out a fix. Sorry, and we’ll keep you updated!”
Users attempting to access ChatGPT are greeted with the message: “ChatGPT is currently unavailable. Status: Identified – We have identified the issue and are working to roll out a fix.”
This isn’t the first time ChatGPT has faced service interruptions. Last month, a similar outage occurred due to power issues, but service was restored within about an hour.
Industry experts speculate that the increased traffic causing this latest disruption might be related to the recent launch of Sora, OpenAI’s new video-generating AI unveiled on Monday.
