First-Class or Private Room? A Look Inside Singapore Airlines’ Double Suite with Beds

mememedia Views

① Singapore Airlines Crowned as the Best in the World

Singapore Airlines

Singapore Airlines has clinched the top spot in Skytrax’s 2023 World Airline Rankings. They are the world’s largest airport and airline service review site. This marks the airline’s return to the number one position after maintaining second place since 2018. Singapore Airlines has been named the best airline for the fifth time.

Singapore Airlines won the World’s Best Airline award and topped in three other categories: World’s Best First Class, World’s Best First Class Amenities, and Best Airline in Asia.

The airline has earned renown for its superior service and has received the most awards worldwide.

Singapore Airlines is known for proactively introducing new aircraft types. The average age of its fleet is less than five years. It has also gained a reputation as one of the safest airlines in the world.

The airline’s fleet includes 55 Airbus A350-900s, 7 A350-900ULRs, 14 A380-800s, 7 Boeing 737-800s, 16 737 MAX 8s, and 16 787-10 Dreamliners.

② Premium First Class with Beds

Singapore Airlines unveiled its new suite seats on the A380 passenger aircraft in January.

The suite seats, which are twice the size of the existing first-class seats, boast an impressive size. The A380 suite seats have a bed, recliner, 32-inch touchscreen, and desk.

Italian Poltrona Frau provides full-grain leather for the seats, which includes a swivel chair that can tilt up to 45 degrees.

In the double suite, travelers with a companion can remove the middle partition to combine the beds into a double bed.

There’s a wardrobe where you can store your luggage and clothes separately.

The seat comes equipped with a sliding door for privacy, and a single button allows adjustment of the window blinds.

In the A380 suite seats, you can also enjoy a personal cinema.

The airline provides free in-flight internet to ensure passengers won’t be bored during the flight.

The seat allows you to control everything easily with just your fingertips. A portable wireless tablet is provided to passengers, allowing them to control everything, including cabin lighting, with a tap.

Passengers using the A380 suite seats can use a spacious bathroom. It comes equipped with a vanity, and passengers can use body lotion, facial mist, and perfume provided by Lalique.

③ Ten Times the Price of Economy Class

Experts are evaluating the A380 suite seat of Singapore Airlines not as a first-class seat, but as a room.

The in-flight meal menu offers a special menu developed by the International Culinary Panel. The passengers can enjoy gourmet dishes like lobster and caviar, accompanied by premium champagne. As a table is separately set up on the bed, you can enjoy your meal while lying in bed and watching a movie.

There are only six first-class suites per aircraft, and the price for a one-way ticket ranges from approximately $8,300 to $12,600. This is ten times that of an economy-class ticket.

Despite the high price, customers highly rate the suite seats, including business class, and they always sell out first.

YouTuber Nonstop Dan booked a first-class seat from Frankfurt to New York for approximately $8,500.

He added, “It felt like a private jet with the best privacy. It exceeded expectations and was good. Excellent service is guaranteed on Singapore Airlines.” The only downside he mentioned was that the bed was not soft enough.
