The UK media Daily Mail recently introduced the success stories of three middle-aged women who lost weight with a simple habit of going to bed at 8 p.m.

Sarah Shaw, a 50-year-old mother of three, shared that she lost about 42 pounds over eight months by adopting a habit of going to bed at 8 p.m. Struggling with weight gain after early menopause at 36, she began to sleep early to resist the temptation of late-night snacks, which led to weight loss.

Daily Mail

Jo Coley, who works from home, said she goes to bed at 7:30 p.m. after serving dinner to her two children. She explained, “I gained about 6.6 pounds because I ate leftover food and french fries every time I cleaned the dinner table,” and “I lost weight because I went to bed at 7:30 p.m. and didn’t go down to the kitchen until 7 a.m. the next morning.”

Nutritionist May Simpkin, 58, also went to bed around 8 p.m. for intermittent fasting. May said, “I wanted to maintain a slim figure even as I got older, so I started intermittent fasting about 5-6 years ago,” and claimed that “the only way to avoid temptation when hungry is to sleep early.”

According to research by the American Heart Association, the more you eat after 6 p.m., the worse your heart becomes, and blood pressure and body mass index increase. The association has revealed that eating food before sleep raises blood sugar, interfering with sleep.
