World’s Top Sustainable Oasis Revealed

mememedia Views

More than half of TripAdvisor users express that environmental conservation is significant, indicating that sustainability increasingly influences travelers’ destination choices.

Every year, TripAdvisor releases its ranking of the world’s best beaches. This year, for the first time, the ranking includes a category for the most sustainable beaches. The travel sustainability company BeCause introduced beaches awarded the prestigious Blue Flag, signifying cleanliness and safety, between May 2023 and April 2024. Seven of the top 10 most sustainable beaches are located across Europe, spanning the UK, Greece, Cyprus, Malta, and Spain.

Sandbanks Beach in the UK has clinched the top spot on TripAdvisor’s list of the most sustainable beaches. Maintaining its Blue Flag status for over three decades sets it apart, surpassing any beach in the United States.

This area stands out as one of the few regions in the UK commended by the European Union Executive Commission for its exceptional cleanliness standards. Visitor feedback consistently describes it as “clean and pristine,” with abundant clean, beautiful sand. The frequent mention of volunteer litter-picking teams clearing debris along the coastline is a testament to their diligent efforts, making it unsurprising that such initiatives are frequently highlighted.

With its soft, clean golden sands ideal for worry-free sandcastle building, the beach also offers a nearby dedicated play area. Moreover, Sandbanks Beach treats visitors to stunning views of Studland and Old Harry Rocks, with the possibility of spotting the Isle of Wight on clear days.

Locatediscover Greecern coast of Syros Island in Greece, this secluded bay secured the fifth spot on TripAdvisor’s list. Nestled between towering cliffs, this tranquil cove is ideal for snorkeling in its calm, shallow waters. It allows travelers to wade comfortably up to waist-deep, even after a long journey. Visitors praise its pristine, crystal-clear waters and convenient accessibility.

After a refreshing swim and leisure time on the beach, travelers can head into the village to savor unique local cuisine at nearby restaurants. Additionally, they can enjoy breathtaking views from the Agia Pakou Chapel or explore ancient ruins in Galissas.

Nissi Beach, situated in the Ayia Napa resort of Cyprus, is a famous sandy shoreline. Stretching 500 meters, the Blue Flag has been awarded for its cleanliness. The beach derives its name from the nearby small island of Nissi, which is easily accessible on foot through shallow waters.

Renowned as one of the most beautiful beaches in Cyprus, Nissi Beach offers a tranquil ambiance, unlike its western end, which is famous for its vibrant nightlife. The Nissi Bay Beach Bar is the focal point for music and parties, offering a lively activity program during peak seasons. Larnaca Airport is approximately 35 km from Nissi Beach, with a bus journey taking around an hour.

Outside of Europe, Radhanagar Beach in India, Corniche Beach in the UAE, and Camp’s Bay Beach in South Africa also made it to TripAdvisor’s top 10 list of the most sustainable beaches.
