China’s first-ever giant panda college will recruit its inaugural class this year.
Xinhua News Agency reported that China West Normal University (CWNU) plans to admit 50 undergraduate students this September to join the giant panda college under the major of Wildlife and Nature Reserve Management
The Sichuan Forestry and Grassland Administration and CWNU jointly established the giant panda college last year.
Liao Yuanbo, Dean of the School of Life Sciences at CWNU, explained, “The Giant Panda College is centered on nurturing talent for panda conservation research. We aim to train undergraduate and master’s level experts who will work in the field at locations such as the Giant Panda National Park and nature reserves.”
The giant panda college is currently applying for and getting approval for a major in National Park Construction and Management and plans to recruit students for this major next year.
