The controversial ‘plastic smoothie’ victim has come forward to express their feelings of injustice.

A post titled “I am a victim of a plastic smoothie” was posted on Nate Pan’s online forum on the 14th.

The author, identified as A, said, “I am a victim of a plastic smoothie. I still wonder several times a day why this happened to us. I am living day by day with guilt and regret, receiving treatment”.

A stated, “The reason I posted this is that I heard that someone innocent, not the one who should be punished for this incident, is shedding tears. After much consideration, I gathered the courage to write this”.

He explained, “In our meeting with the headquarters, we both felt that misunderstandings had grown due to the owner’s lies”.

He recalled, “On the 17th of last month, I ordered a chocolate chip smoothie at a cafe at 6 p.m. At first, I couldn’t imagine that the small foreign substances sucked in through the thick straw were plastic. I mistook it for unground chocolate chips or ice! As we were thirsty, we took a few sips, felt something was wrong, and spit it out, but by then, the plastic pieces had already been swallowed”.

He added, “After drinking the beverage, I ended up in the emergency room due to repeated vomiting.”

Upon arriving at the emergency room, he said, “The owner told us to ‘get treated first because insurance is covered,’ but no further action was taken no matter how long we waited.”

A said, “When I reported this situation to the headquarters, the owner told the headquarters that he would ‘take responsibility for the treatment.’ The headquarters assumed we were receiving treatment with the owner’s help”.

However, contrary to what he had said, “The owner did not even have insurance. He lied to us, saying, ‘The headquarters will do nothing.’ The owner kept apologizing to the headquarters and acting strangely towards the victims. The headquarters stopped talking to the owner and consulted directly with us about what to do”.

A said, “I met with the two headquarters representatives and received an apology.”

He also said, “The headquarters expressed great concern about the large expenditures such as lawyer fees and medical expenses in a family raising a child, where the owner says he is a ‘credit delinquent.’ They promised to support living expenses for a year, wanting to take full responsibility for this incident”.

The ‘plastic smoothie’ victim also shared heartbreaking news. He said, “The day we lost our child who had come to us after waiting for two years… We didn’t even hear a word of apology or a promise to visit the hospital”.

A said, “The offender disobeyed the headquarters’ order to suspend operations and continued to operate the cafe and serve customers.”

He continued, “A reporter contacted me after seeing the cafe post. He texted me saying he wanted to know my contact information to do a joint investigation, but it was a lie. That person was a reporter the owner knew and had been in contact with”.

Victim A said, “I still regret the day I drank that smoothie. Why didn’t I realize it at the first sip? I feel guilty. Sometimes I feel so guilty that I vomit while eating, and tears pour out even when I’m still”.

He emphasized, “As a parent, I will live with the guilt in my heart for not being able to protect the child who came to us. However, I believe that someone must be held accountable for a beverage with plastic was served”.

He reiterated, “At that time, the shop owner made the beverage obstinately unrelated to the headquarters, and the sales results were not busy enough to justify it. He hid without apologizing properly, taking responsibility, and only blaming us for drinking (the plastic smoothie). Instead, the headquarters apologized, and the other franchise owners shed tears. I want to ask the wrongdoer, not the other franchise owners, for retribution. With that in mind, I wrote this post here”.

Finally, A said, “I wanted to thank you for accompanying ‘Ari,’ who left without even seeing the world’s light, with warm words and consolation so she wouldn’t be lonely on her way.”

Netizens who saw this responded, “Have you seen the interview with the cafe owner on the news? Even if he made a mistake, he said, ‘How sensitive is the human tongue that it can’t feel this?’ implying that the mother intentionally drank the plastic smoothie. An ordinary person, let alone a pregnant woman? He kept shifting the blame without understanding the context, and I thought he was a bit off, but he’s lacking as a human.” “Plastic foreign substances in a beverage? I don’t think anyone could have imagined this.” “They served this to eat? Wow…” “How could you tell it was plastic when ground with ice and chocolate? That shop owner is foolish. It would have been fine if he just apologized and compensated for the medical expenses, but he’s stubbornly resisting too much”.

Meanwhile, in September, an incident occurred where a pregnant woman miscarried after buying and consuming a smoothie containing plastic pieces from a franchise cafe. However, the owner who sold the plastic smoothie sparked controversy by showing a strange reaction to the victim, saying, “How can plastic go down the throat?”.

The headquarters had previously announced through 1st, 2nd, and 3rd position papers that “We have verbally completed the notice of termination of the franchise agreement with the store,” recognizing the seriousness of the matter and pledging to take full responsibility.
