  • UN Appoints New Coordinator for North Korea, Marking First Entry Since Pandemic North Korea is allowing officials from international organizations to enter the country for the first time since the pandemic. Secretary-General António Guterres on Thursday appointed Joe Columbano, former head of the Office of the UN Resident Coordinator for China, as the new UN Resident Coordinator in Pyongyang, according to UN Headquarters. "Mr. Columbano will support North Korea's efforts in the context of the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) agenda and lead the United Nations team in areas such as food, security, social development services, resilience and sustainability, and data development management," said Secretary-General's spokesperson Stephane Dujarric.
