On the 13th, South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol visited the last country on his Central Asia tour, Uzbekistan. He emphasized his support for strengthening cooperation and the exchange of advanced technology between the two countries. Yoon attended a dialogue with young entrepreneurs during his visit to the Tashkent U-ENTER Entrepreneurship Innovation Center. He stated, “In the age of digital transformation, startups will lead economic growth utilizing deep tech technologies such as artificial intelligence and blockchain.”
He further promised government aid to expand cooperation and exchange between startups and tech talents in South Korea and Uzbekistan. Since 2020, South Korea has given $5.5 million through the Official Development Assistance (ODA) of the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) to establish and support the Tashkent U-ENTER Entrepreneurship Innovation Center. Yoon also promised to cultivate professionals, mentioning South Korea’s Youth Innovation Silk Road Reboot Program. The purpose of this event was to provide an exchange opportunity between young entrepreneurs from South Korea and Central Asia to foster an innovative environment. Upon his arrival in Uzbekistan, Yoon paid his respects at the Tashkent Independence Monument and hosted a dinner meeting with compatriots.
