Russia has responded to the U.S.’s long-range missile plan in Germany by suggesting the possibility of deploying nuclear missiles.
On the 18th, Reuters reported that Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov revealed this in an interview. Ryabkov stated, “I am not ruling out any options,” responding to U.S. nuclear deployment plans.
He explained that Russia will not hold back concerning potential nuclear deployment as a response. “Kaliningrad is no exception in our 100% determination to do everything necessary to push back those who may harbor aggressive plans and try to provoke us to take certain undesirable steps for anyone and are fraught with further complications,” he added. Last week, the U.S. government announced its plan to deploy SM-6, Tomahawk, and new supersonic missiles in Germany in 2026 for European defense.
Reuters noted that if Russia plans to deploy nuclear missiles as well, it would be a strong message to Western countries, as Kilinigrad is adjacent to many NATO countries.
