Ahead of the U.S. Open, Tiger Woods participated in a practice round with his son, Charlie Woods.

The practice round for the 124th U.S. Open took place on the 11th (Korean time) at the Pinehurst No. 2 Golf Course in North Carolina.

Woods was accompanied by his son Charlie, Rickie Fowler, and Jordan Spieth in the practice round.

Woods successfully made the cut in the Masters Tournament last April. However, he tasted the bitter pill of elimination from the cut in the PGA Championship in May.

This is his first appearance since the PGA Championship.

Woods is a three-time U.S. Open champion, having won in 2000, 2002, and 2008. Although he did not qualify this year, the USGA granted him a special exemption.

The U.S. Open main tournament starts on the 13th. It’s the fourth time it’s being held at Pinehurst No. 2. The winners in previous years were Payne Stewart (USA) in 1999, Michael Campbell (New Zealand) in 2005, and Martin Kaymer (Germany) in 2014.

The defending champion is Wyndham Clark (USA). Clark won last year over Rory McIlroy (Northern Ireland) by one stroke.

Meanwhile, Woods will receive the Bob Jones Award, the highest honor of the United States Golf Association (USGA), on the 12th.

Last week in New York, he attended a meeting with the Saudi Arabian Wealth Fund (PIF) as a member of the PGA Tour Enterprise Transaction Committee.
