The Volvo EX30, a next-generation premium electric SUV set to make its debut in November, has been crowned ‘Car of the Year’ by UK daily ‘The Sun’.

The Volvo EX30 was developed to meet the evolving global electric vehicle trend and attract new customer demand as the brand’s first compact electric SUV. It was designed based on Scandinavian design and cutting-edge technology to maintain the safety and brand experience of higher models despite its small size. It also achieved the lowest carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions among all models by carefully selecting all materials used, not only for total production and product life cycle but also for carbon emissions.

In particular, it was selected as ‘The Sun’s ‘Car of the Year’ for setting a benchmark in its class with its new pure electric powertrain, cutting-edge technology, excellent quality and safety, Scandinavian design, and competitive pricing.

Rob Gill, Editor of The Sun Motors, described the EX30 as “not only the winner of the compact SUV/crossover crown of the year but also the undisputed ‘Sun Car’ of the Year.” He added, “It offers everything we expect from Volvo, including a safe and cool Scandinavian style, and sustainability, at an unexpectedly low price. It will undoubtedly be a huge hit.”

In addition, the EX30 also won ‘Small SUV/Crossover of the Year’ at the ‘News UK Motor Awards’ selected by major UK automotive media including The Sunday Times, proving its excellent product quality.

Kristian Elvefors, Managing Director of Volvo Cars UK, said, “This award reaffirms our belief that offering models that can meet various lifestyles, requirements, and most importantly, affordable budgets, will help change public perception of pure electric vehicles. The success of the EX30 will play a pivotal role in the brand’s growth and will be an opportunity to further elevate our leadership in the electric vehicle field.”

Meanwhile, the Volvo EX30 is scheduled for its first public unveiling and pre-order in November. Detailed specifications and sales prices will be announced later.
