The third discharge of contaminated water from Fukushima is set to begin today.

On November 1st, Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) announced that if there are no issues, they plan to start the marine discharge from 10:30 a.m. on the 2nd, having completed their preparations.

The third discharge is scheduled to release 7,800 tons (approximately 2,051,710 gallons) of contaminated water over a span of 17 days.

On October 31st, TEPCO announced that they had confirmed the tritium concentration of the contaminated water, stored in large tanks after being mixed with seawater and passing through the Multi-nuclide Removal Equipment (ALPS), met the standard.

The first discharge, which started from August 24th to September 11th, released 7,788 tons (approximately 2,050,993 gallons) of contaminated water, followed by the second discharge of 7,810 tons (approximately 2,060,431 gallons) from October 5th to 23rd.

The plan is to dispose of a total of 31,200 tons (approximately 8,231,132 gallons) of water in four rounds by March of next year.
