On the 4th, Yonhap News reported on Kim Jong Un’s recent activities, citing a report from North Korea’s Korean Central News Agency.

According to the report, Kim Jong Un attended the National Mothers’ Meeting, which was held for the first time in 11 years. In his opening speech, he emphasized the need to overcome the low birthrate problem and strengthen internal social cohesion.

The Korean Central News Agency reported on the 4th that Kim Jong Un attended the 5th National Mothers’ Meeting held in Pyongyang, North Korea, on the 3rd.

Kim Jong Un was seen wiping his tears with a handkerchief during the meeting while Ri Il Hwan, the North Korean Workers’ Party secretary, was reporting. This scene was broadcast on Korean Central TV.

Kyunghyang Shinmun explained the background: “Kim Jong Un was caught shedding tears during Secretary Ri’s report. It seems to attempt to portray an image of a leader who cares for the people.”

The so-called “crying Kim Jong Un” photos attracted attention and spread on social media and major online forums on the 4th.

Secretary Ri Il Hwan, who gave the meeting report, said, “The emergence of non-socialist negative elements among the new generations in our society is not unrelated to family education. Mothers should be sensitive to the party’s lines and policies and be excellent teachers and inspirations for their children who show practical examples in the struggle for their implementation.”

In his speech at the meeting, Kim Jong Un said, “I take this opportunity to express my deepest respect to the mothers who have devoted their hearts and souls to the growth of their children and the prosperity of their homeland.”

He added, “Whenever I feel tired while carrying out party and national projects, I always think of mothers. The courage and dedication of mothers have given me a sense of duty that I must not fall, an indescribable sense of infinite responsibility and strength.”

He also praised, “The spirit and strength that mothers possess are not only for a single-family but have become the nutrients for the future of our homeland. It is the driving force that steadfastly protects our socialist families united and advancing with virtue and affection.”
