Samyang Round Square announced on the 20th that its Buldak Ramen had been showcased as a prominent symbol of K-Ramen on the esteemed British micro-documentary channel, “Great Big Story.”

Launched in 2015, “Great Big Story” is a channel that produces micro-documentaries on a variety of topics, such as food, hobbies, art, culture, and history. With 6.2 million subscribers, the channel is headquartered in London, England, and collaborates with teams worldwide to produce and distribute micro-documentaries, short films, series, and other video content that runs between 3 and 10 minutes.

“Great Big Story” planned to film content covering various aspects of K-culture, selecting ramen, hats, zombie makeup, and celadon pottery as specific topics. Of notable significance was their dedicated focus on Buldak Ramen as a representative example of K-Ramen, even dispatching a production team to South Korea. A spokesperson from Samyang Round Square explained, “This content was made due to a proactive proposal from the channel.”

The production team from “Great Big Story” visited key facilities in South Korea, such as Samyang Round Square’s Miryang factory and Wonju Food Research Institute, filming the entire process from the development to production of Buldak Ramen. The video introduces the production scenes at the Miryang factory, which produces approximately 2 billion Buldak Stir-fried Noodles annually, starting with an interview with factory director Seungyong Oh.

Following this, an interview with Byunghoon Lee, who developed the Buldak Ramen sauce at the Samyang Food Research Institute, shared intriguing episodes during the product development process, including trend research, development, and tasting. The video also features channel representatives taking on the Buldak Ramen challenge and scenes of people eating ramen at various places in Korea. Compared to other content on the channel, the video has recorded a high number of views, surpassing 50,000 views in just two days after upload.

A representative from Samyang Round Square said, “As the global popularity of Buldak Ramen continues and the group’s influence expands, we’ve witnessed a surge in interview requests and media coverage from esteemed outlets worldwide.” They added, “It’s a privilege to be recognized as a frontrunner of K-Ramen, which has become a global cultural phenomenon. We remain committed to our growth trajectory through proactive engagement and diverse media outreach.”

Meanwhile, Samyang Round Square has recently been focusing on the global promotion of Buldak Ramen, actively participating in interviews with prominent media outlets across various nations, including The Wall Street Journal, LA Times, and Nikkei.
