Continental’s Ultra-High Performance Tire Ranks First in Tire Performance in German Magazine

globalautonews Views

Continental’s ultra-high performance (UHP) tire, Continental SportContact 7, took first place in the UHP summer tire test conducted by Auto Bild sportscars (4/24 issue) with the ratings “test winner” and “exemplary.”

The ultra-high-performance tire prevailed against six tire models from international manufacturers and was the test winner with an overall score of 1.2. The editors of Auto Bild Sportscars tested the tires in size 265/35 R 19 on the front axle and 295/30 R 20 on the rear axle on a Mercedes-Benz AMG GT in nine test disciplines on wet and dry roads.

Auto Bild evaluated, “SportContact 7 has sophisticated steering response, stable handling performance in all weather conditions, excellent balance, excellent braking power, and anti-hydroplaning performance.” In addition, Auto Bild gave a favorable review, saying, “It is difficult to find weaknesses as a tire for super sports cars.” As a result of the test, SportContact 7 ranked first overall in various test items on wet and dry roads.

The SportContact 7 received top marks in wet handling, cornering, and braking. With a braking distance of 49.2 meters ( about 161.4 feet) from 100 km/h ( 62 mph) on wet asphalt, the Continental tire was exactly 1 meter ( about 3.3 feet) ahead of the runner-up and a full 19.1 meter ( about 62.7 feet) ahead of the last-place finisher. With an intermediate score of 1 for the wet tests, it leads the test field well ahead of its competitors. In the dry tests, the tire from the Continental came to a halt after 38.5 meters (about 126.3 feet) at a speed of 100 km/h (62 mph). Overall, the tire achieved an intermediate score of 2+ in the five dry disciplines, including a strong first-place finish.

The SportContact 7 is specially designed for high-performance, sporty vehicles with electric or conventional drives. Various vehicle manufacturers have approved it, and it is available in sizes from 18 to 24 inches. During development, Continental focused on perfection in all performance criteria to combine maximum driving pleasure with maximum safety. In the South Korean market, tires of various sizes ranging from 19 inches to 21 inches will be released.
