Real-Life ‘Ocean’s Eleven’: $30 Million Vanishes from LA Vault

A theft reminiscent of a real-life “Ocean’s Eleven” has occurred in the United States. According to local media outlets such as the L.A. Times and KABC on the 4th, $30 million in cash disappeared from a security company’s cash storage facility in the San Fernando Valley, north of Los Angeles, on the 31st of last month.

According to an L.A. Police Department official, it is suspected that the thieves entered by breaking through the roof of the storage facility and taking the money from the vault inside.

The problem is that the crime was so stealthy that no intrusion alarms were triggered, and hardly any signs of intrusion were left behind. As a result, nobody knew about the crime until employees came to work and opened the vault the following day.

The authorities are investigating the incident as a crime committed by a skilled gang well-versed in covertly infiltrating security facilities.

The FBI, which has yet to identify any suspects, has only stated that it is investigating the incident with the LAPD.

Meanwhile, this is not the first cash heist to occur in L.A. On September 12, 1997, $18.9 million was stolen from a security facility.
