According to Business Insider, on the 26th (local time), Meta reported in documents recently submitted to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) that the median salary of its employees last year was $379,000.

This means that about half of all employees earn less than $379,000, while the other half earn more.

Meta reported during its first-quarter earnings announcement on the 24th that the total number of employees was 69,329. This indicates that about 35,000 employees receive over $379,000.

The media outlet reported that Meta’s senior software engineers and researchers earn a higher base pay than product designers and user experience experts.

Meta’s median salary is significantly higher than typical tech companies, ranging from $35,000 to $120,000.

However, as Insider noted, the difference may not be as pronounced compared to big tech competitors like Google or Amazon.

It is known that a considerable number of employees in these big tech companies also receive salaries exceeding $300,000.

However, despite employees earning high salaries, Meta is currently undergoing restructuring. Since 2022, laid-off employees have reached 22% of the total workforce.

CEO Mark Zuckerberg has emphasized efficiency to his employees, stating that he will strengthen performance evaluations and restructuring to maximize productivity.
