Rumor: Apple Watch Ultra 3 Missing a Hardware Upgrade

wikitree Views

Rumors have partially revealed Apple’s third high-end smartwatch, the Apple Watch Ultra 3.

IT Media MacRumors

On the 1st (local time), IT tipster Ming-Chi Kuo mentioned the scheduled release of the Apple Watch Ultra 3 this year during an interview with IT media MacRumors.

Kuo explained that the Apple Watch Ultra 3 will have “Barely any hardware upgrades compared to the previous model: Apple Watch Ultra 2.” He did not comment on any other detailed changes. We’ll need to watch further announcements, as the expected Apple Watch Ultra 3 release date is September.

Apple Watches can be classified as standard, budget, and high-end models. The Apple Watch Ultra series is a high-end smartwatch that Apple first launched in 2022. It features a larger display, enhanced durability, and upgraded battery life compared to the standard Apple Watch models.

Some speculate that the hardware Kuo referred to could be the case material.

The case material of the currently available Apple Watch Ultra 2 is titanium. Titanium is durable and lightweight, making it widely used in sports equipment.

Meanwhile, last November (local time), Mark Gurman of Bloomberg also mentioned the follow-up model to the Apple Watch 9, which is expected to be released in September. Gurman explained that the new Apple Watch will include features for detecting blood pressure and SAS (Sleep Apnea Syndrome).

The domestic release date for the Apple Watch Ultra 3 and Apple Watch 10 (or X) is expected to be in September, about a month later than in North America for reasons such as radio certification.

While the exact domestic release date is unknown, we can derive some predictions based on the release dates of previously launched models.
