Hong Kong is set to host monthly fireworks and drone shows this year.

According to Lifestyle Asia, the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) plans to present fireworks and drone shows every month as part of its tourism policy.

The first fireworks show took place at Victoria Harbor at 8 p.m. on the first day of this month, and the first drone show is scheduled to be held at Wan Chai Harbor on the 11th. In June, drone shows and fireworks will be held on the 10th and 15th respectively. The schedule for July and beyond can be found on the HKTB’s website.

Earlier this year, the Hong Kong government invested $141 million in the HKTB to attract tourists. Deputy Finance Minister Michael Wong stated, “We will actively seek to attract more world-class mega-events.”

This policy is expected to add more diversity to Hong Kong’s tourist attractions.

In addition to the fireworks and drone shows, the HKTB plans to revamp the Symphony of Lights, which takes place every day at Victoria Harbor. It is also showcasing various tourist spots such as the Temple Street Night Market and the Kai Tak Sports Park. Paul Chan, Minister of Finance, said, “We will develop various themed festivals and events to attract tourists this year.”

Authorities expect that these diverse tourist activities will increase the number of visitors to Hong Kong by 35% over the previous year, exceeding 45 million.
