On the 15th, the Korean Central News Agency reported that Kim Jong Un, the North Korean leader, attended the completion ceremony of Jonwi Street with his daughter, Kim Ju Ae, the previous day. This is Kim Ju Ae’s second public appearance in two months, following her attendance at the training guidance of the Airborne Forces and the completion ceremony of the Kangdong General Greenhouse on March 15th. Kim Jong Un attended the completion ceremony of Jonwi Street in the northern part of the capital, Pyongyang, with his daughter.

The Korean Central News Agency reported on the 15th, “Kim attended the completion ceremony of Jonwi Street the previous day and personally cut the ribbon, encouraging the youth who participated in the construction.”

The agency conveyed Kim Ju Ae’s attendance, “As the father leader arrived at the completion ceremony with his beloved child, a storm-like cheer of hurrah erupted.” Kim Ju Ae made her official public appearance precisely two months after attending the training guidance of the Airborne Forces and the completion ceremony of the Kangdong General Greenhouse on March 15th.

At this event, Kim said, “Having a trustworthy successor and defense team in a revolutionary party is the greatest pride that can’t be compared to anything else,” and “Succeeding the construction of a socialist powerhouse is assured as we have the passionate youth army who are faithful to the call of the homeland, sincere to society and the group, and devoted to the future.”

He added, “Our youth will engrave the great service at the forefront of the era towards all-out national development through the continuous elevation of their wisdom and bravery, shown in the capital construction.”

The completion ceremony began the previous afternoon and was followed by a nighttime commemorative performance, which included fireworks. It is reported that Kim and his daughter sat through until the commemorative performance.

Meanwhile, Jonwi Street is a section connecting the Sosan Intersection and Sambong Bridge, which belongs to the Sopho District, one of the three major construction projects the Workers’ Party of Korea proposed last year.

It is interpreted that Kim Ju Ae takes the symbolic role of the start and end of the Sopo District development, considering that she revealed her presence at the groundbreaking ceremony of the Sopho District last February and this completion ceremony of Jonwi Street.
