According to Travel Pulse, Port Canaveral in Florida has announced plans to build a new terminal by 2026.

The new terminal will be an ultra-large terminal with a bulkhead measuring 1344 feet, large enough to accommodate the world’s largest ship, the Iona. The new development will also include parking facilities for up to 3,000 vehicles and new roads inside and outside the terminal.

Port Canaveral decided to develop a new terminal due to the explosive increase in demand in the cruise industry. According to Travel Weekly, Port Canaveral served 4.07 million passengers in 2022, earning the title World’s Busiest Cruise Port. It is especially popular as it operates Disney Cruise Line routes in conjunction with Walt Disney World in nearby Orlando.

Micah Loyd, Chairman of the Port Canaveral Board, stated, “The new terminal will have a positive impact on the economic prosperity of the port,” and added, “We will strive to ensure that Florida remains the Cruise Capital of the World.”
