NewJeans Joins Beyoncé and Adele Among ‘The Face’s Legendary Cover Stars

joynews24 Views

NewJeans graced the cover of the British publication The Face’s 2024 Summer Issue, released on May 29.

Launched in 1980, The Face covers various music, fashion, and culture topics. The magazine, known for its unique visual imagery, previously featured global pop stars like Beyoncé, Harry Styles, and Adele on its cover.

The Face 2024 Summer Issue collaborated with world-renowned artist and photographer Petra Collins, who served as this project’s photographer and creative director. She captured NewJeans with her unique perspective, showcasing various facets of dreamy nostalgia and youth culture.

The Face highlighted NewJeans’ musical achievements, mentioning their performance at Lollapalooza Chicago, saying, “Nothing is quite as tangible as witnessing them effortlessly win over a crowd the size of three football pitches at one of America’s biggest music festivals. That’s when you think: bloody hell, NewJeans are about to become the biggest girl band in the world.”

The magazine also described NewJeans’ strategy of releasing music videos before the actual songs as “revolutionary in the meticulous world of K-pop.” It continued, “NewJeans push and reshape the boundaries for what K‑pop can be. They’re not a group who are only listened to by diehard stans and K‑pop hobbyists. Musically and culturally, their appeal seeps beyond the confines of fandom and into the broader zeitgeist.”
