Ming-Chi Kuo, an analyst at TF International Securities, posted on social media, “Mass production of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 is set to begin later this year. This chipset will be used in various Android models, including the Samsung Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25 Plus, and Galaxy S25 Ultra.”
According to his announcement, Qualcomm’s application processor (AP), the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, is responsible for a potential price increase for the Galaxy S25 Ultra. This chipset will be introduced at the Snapdragon Summit 2024, held in Maui, Hawaii, from October 24th to 26th.
Ming-Chi Kuo predicts that the price of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 will be approximately 25% to 30% higher than its predecessor. The new chipset is manufactured using the latest N3E node of TSMC’s (Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company) 3-nanometer process, which was also used to produce Apple’s A18 Pro chip.
In other words, Ming-Chi Kuo claims that the price of the chipset is due to the new technology, which could lead to a price increase for new smartphones like the Galaxy S25 Ultra.
Despite the price shift, Ming-Chi Kuo predicts that the demand for the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset will show a high growth rate compared to last year due to the increase in AI-based demand. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 is set to compete with MediaTek’s Dimensity 9400 AP.
These technological advancements and market changes could directly affect the price of the Galaxy S25 Ultra.
