1. Soak in saltwater

Salt effectively reduces the bitterness of cucumbers by extracting moisture and bitterness from them. After slicing the cucumber, soak it in sodium water for about 30 minutes.

2. Use sugar

Sugar works opposite to salt in that it coats the bitterness and adds sweetness. After slicing the cucumber, sprinkle it with sugar and leave it for a while to remove the bitterness and add sweetness.

3. Utilize vinegar

Vinegar neutralizes cucumber bitterness. After slicing the cucumber, sprinkle it with vinegar and leave it for about 10 minutes to remove the bitterness and add a refreshing taste.

4. Peel the skin

Cucumbers’ bitterness is primarily in their skin. Peeling the skin diminishes the bitterness. Using cucumbers after peeling the skin is simple but effective.

5. Remove the ends

The ends of cucumbers are particularly bitter. Use the cucumber after cutting off the ends to reduce the bitterness.

6. Soak in water

Soaking cucumbers in water reduces their bitterness and is effective yet simple. After slicing the cucumber, soak it in cold water for about 30 minutes. The water dilutes the bitterness.

7. Use citric acid

Citric acid, a powerful acidic substance, effectively removes cucumber bitterness. After slicing the cucumber, add a few drops of citric acid and leave it for about 5 minutes to remove the bitterness. However, caution is needed when using citric acid. Use it in moderation.

8. Heat treatment

Heat treatment removes the bitterness from cucumbers. Boil the sliced cucumber in water for about 1 minute and then rinse it in cold water to make it less bitter and make the texture softer.

9. Use milk

Milk neutralizes the bitterness. After slicing the cucumber, soak it in milk. After about 30 minutes, the bitterness will be gone. Milk is functional in neutralizing the bitterness of cucumbers.

10. Use onions

Onions are effective in removing the bitterness from cucumbers. After slicing the cucumber, leave it with onions. The onions absorb the bitterness. After about an hour, the bitterness will be gone. Salt, sugar, vinegar, peeling, removing the ends, soaking in water, citric acid, heat treatment, milk, and onions are just a few methods to eliminate the bitterness of cucumbers.

You no longer need to worry about the bitterness of cucumbers.
