According to data released by Sportico, Jon Rahm earned $210 million over the past year, establishing him as the highest-earning athlete.

Rahm’s substantial earnings originated from his switch from the PGA Tour to LIV Golf, backed by Saudi Arabian capital, at the end of 2023. This move netted him a significant transfer fee.

In May 2024, Forbes ranked Jon second globally in athlete earnings, trailing only behind Cristiano Ronaldo.

According to Sportico, LeBron James of the NBA’s Los Angeles Lakers is the second-highest earner, amassing $127 million. The top ten earners are exclusively golfers and basketball players, while the top 20 also includes two tennis players.

Taking third place is Stephen Curry of the NBA’s Golden State Warriors, earning $109 million, Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks with $108 million, and Kevin Durant of the Phoenix Suns at $89.7 million.

Golfers Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler occupy the sixth and seventh spots, respectively. At the same time, the rest of the top ten is dominated by NBA players Joel Embiid, Nikola Jokic, and Devin Booker.

Among tennis players, Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz ranks 13th with earnings of $45 million, while Serbia’s Novak Djokovic follows closely in 18th place with $38.7 million.

Among female athletes, tennis player Coco Gauff earned the highest income in tennis, though she did not crack the top 20 earners overall. Gauff is slated to lead the U.S. team alongside LeBron James at the opening ceremony.

The 2024 Paris Olympics are attracting global attention as top athletes worldwide prepare to compete.

There is keen interest in how the highest-earning athletes, like Jon Rahm and others, will perform in their respective sports. Expectations are exceptionally high as they showcase their talents at the Olympics.
