Paris Olympics Introduces ‘Victory Selfies’ for Medal Winners

Moments from the Olympic medal ceremonies have been captured using Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip6 Olympic Edition.

Samsung Electronics announced today that it is collaborating with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the Paris 2024 Organization Committee to launch the Victory Selfies. This initiative lets medal-winning athletes capture their moments of glory using the Galaxy Z Flip6 Olympic Edition directly on the podium.

Traditionally, athletes were strictly prohibited from bringing personal items, including mobile phones, to Olympic award ceremonies. Only official Olympic media were allowed to photograph the podium from a distance. However, after the medal awarding at the Paris Olympics, Olympic volunteers handed the Galaxy Z Flip6 Olympic Edition to the athletes, allowing them to personally capture the exciting moments of their victory.

Photos taken with the Victory Selfie on the podium will be instantly synced to the “Athlete 365” app, provided to all Paris Olympics participants on their Galaxy Z Flip6 Olympic Edition. Athletes can download the photos directly and easily share them with family, friends, and fans.

Rayssa Leal, a member of Team Samsung Galaxy from Brazil and bronze medalist in women’s street skateboarding at the Paris Olympics, expressed her excitement about sharing her Olympic medal moment with fans, family, and friends worldwide through the Victory Selfie. “It not only amplified a moment I’ll never forget but also celebrated the camaraderie beyond the competition as my fellow medalists and I took the Victory Selfie together on the podium,” she added.
