Son Heung-min of Tottenham Hotspur FC has achieved the highest speed among players aged 30 and over in the 2023-2024 Premier League (EPL).
According to the football statistics platform Squawka, “We reveal the top 10 players aged 30 and over in the EPL who have recorded the highest speeds during the 2023–2024 season. Son Heung Min topped the list, reaching a speed of 36.08 km/h this season.”
Son Heung-min is renowned for using his speed to outpace defenders. In the 2019-2020 EPL season, he amazed fans by dribbling past 7 or 8 Burnley defenders to score a remarkable goal. That same year, he won the FIFA Puskás Award for the most stunning goal. Although Son has now turned 30—when many players see a decline in speed—he defies expectations. Despite being in his thirties, Son has recorded the highest speed among players aged 30 and over in the 2023-2024 Premier League, proving his pace remains as impressive as ever.
Following Son, Nelson Semedo of Wolverhampton Wanderers secured the second-highest speed among players over 30, clocking in at 35.9 km/h last season. Semedo, a Portuguese defender and teammate of Hwang Hee Chan, is known for his quick pace.
Kyle Walker of Manchester City came in third. Walker, who previously played alongside Son at Tottenham Hotspur, is known as one of the fastest defenders in the Premier League. His top speed was 35.32 km/h.
Following Walker were Michail Antonio (West Ham United) in fourth place, Willian (Fulham) in fifth, Virgil van Dijk (Liverpool) in sixth, Adam Smith (Bournemouth) in seventh, Mohamed Salah (Liverpool) in eighth, Raúl Jiménez (Fulham) in ninth, and Nathaniel Clyne (Crystal Palace) in tenth.
