Scottie Scheffler just made PGA Tour history with a stunning win in the FedEx Cup Playoffs, raking in a record-breaking $62.3 million. This jaw-dropping amount sets a new benchmark that will be tough for anyone to top.
Scheffler’s impact goes far beyond his earnings. He led nearly every major PGA Tour statistic this year. According to USA Today, Scheffler notched seven victories, the most on tour. This is particularly notable compared to second-place finishers—Xander Schauffele, Nick Dunlap (both from the U.S.), Rory McIlroy (Northern Ireland), Robert MacIntyre (Scotland), and Hideki Matsuyama (Japan)—who each won two tournaments.
Moreover, Scheffler set a new record with 16 top-10 finishes, surpassing Schauffele’s 15. He also claimed the official money title with $29.22 million, not including the $25 million from the playoff win and $8 million from finishing first in the regular-season FedEx Cup rankings. This total comfortably outpaced Schauffele, who earned $18.35 million.
On top of that, Scheffler excelled in key statistical categories, leading the PGA Tour in average strokes per round with 68.645 and birdies per round with 4.88. His performance exceeded the tour averages of 71.118 strokes and 3.76 birdies per round. He also topped the greens in regulation with a 73.16% success rate, well above the tour average of 65.69%. In strokes gained, he led with 1.269 strokes gained per round, significantly ahead of Schauffele, who averaged 2.068.
Scheffler reached his 13th career victory just 931 days after his first win, a pace notably quicker than Jack Nicklaus (1,029 days) and Tiger Woods (1,113 days). These accomplishments firmly establish him as a dominant figure in the golf world.
