Burnt Pot? Here’s the Miracle Hack You Can Do with 2 Kitchen Staples

Daniel Kim Views

Dealing with a pot that’s burnt completely black can be frustrating, especially when even a steel scrubber seems ineffective. Buying special cleaners for the occasional burnt pot feels like a waste of money, but there’s a simple solution using ingredients you probably already have at home! Here’s a step-by-step guide to easily clean a burnt pot with just baking soda and vinegar.

This is a burnt pot while boiling some rice. The burnt parts are really stuck on.

As expected, scrubbing hard with dish soap and a steel scrubber didn’t work…

Surprisingly, nothing came off.

What You’ll Need!

  • 2 to 3 tablespoons of baking soda
  • Vinegar
  • Dish soap
  • Scrubber

Step 1: Prepare the Pot

Pour 2 to 3 tablespoons of baking soda into the burnt pot, then add a suitable amount of vinegar. You’ll notice the mixture starts to bubble—don’t worry, that’s exactly what we want!

Next, fill the pot with enough water to cover the burnt areas, but be careful not to overfill, as it could boil over when heated.

Step 2: Simmer the Pot

Place the pot on the stove and simmer it on medium to low heat for 20 to 30 minutes. The heat combined with the baking soda and vinegar will help loosen the burnt areas. If the burnt parts are really stubborn, let the pot soak for an additional 30 minutes after boiling.

Step 3: Scrub It Clean

After simmering, apply dish soap to your scrubber and scrub the pot well with a bit of pressure. The burnt bits will come off much more easily now.

Ta-da! After scrubbing, the pot looks brand new.

Check out the before and after. The burnt parts were stuck fast, but after cleaning, there’s no trace of them left.

Using baking soda and vinegar is a simple, cost-effective way to clean a burnt pot without harsh chemicals or extra spending. It’s a go-to method for saving those kitchen disasters!
