In Chiang Mai, Thailand, two golden tiger sisters are capturing hearts and becoming a local sensation. According to a report by Bangkok Post on Sunday, these adorable tigers have quickly gained fame, drawing comparisons to Fubao, the beloved giant panda who became an international star, particularly in China.
The sisters, named Eva and Luna, were born on February 16, 2021, at the Chiang Mai Night Safari. The zoo recently shared pictures of the three-year-old tigers on social media, where they became internet celebrities.
Born with a genetic mutation, Eva and Luna boast unique golden and white fur that sets them apart from typical tigers. Unlike the fierce image often associated with big cats, these sisters charm visitors with their gentle and soft expressions. Their features have earned them cute nicknames such as the “golden tiger” and “strawberry tiger.”
While Luna, Eva’s sister, has her fair share of admirers, Eva breaks the internet with her quirky expressions. A recent photo of Eva shared by the zoo racked up over 15,000 likes and more than 10,000 shares in just 24 hours.
The Bangkok Post reports that tigers born with white fur are incredibly rare in the wild, less than one in 10,000. Golden-furred tiger cubs are even more extraordinary, with experts estimating fewer than 100 worldwide.
