North Korean Bulsae-4 Anti-Tank Missile Destroyed by Ukrainian Drone Strike

Ukrainian forces claim to have destroyed a North Korean-made anti-tank weapon, the Bulsae-4, on the Kharkiv front.

The 3rd Assault Brigade of the Ukrainian military released footage on the 30th of last month, showcasing the destruction of a Bulsae-4 near Kharkiv. Ukrainian officials reported that drone operators from the 3rd Assault Brigade detected and engaged a mobile Bulsae-4 in the Kharkiv region.

Kharkiv remains a critical battleground in northeastern Ukraine. CNN previously reported on the 22nd of last month that North Korean troops had been spotted within Ukrainian territory, including Mariupol and Kharkiv.

The released footage depicts Ukrainian drone units neutralizing not only the Bulsae-4 but also a Russian Ural tank and a concealed Kamaz truck. The drone strike ignited the targeted armored vehicle, sending shrapnel flying.

The Bulsae-4, a North Korean anti-tank weapon, is believed to have an operational range of 10 to 15 kilometers (6 to 15.5 miles). Intelligence suggests that North Korea reverse-engineered and enhanced a Russian-made anti-tank missile to create this weapon. Ukrainian military news outlet Militarnyi first reported Russia’s use of this weapon in July.

Since late last year, Ukrainian forces have recovered North Korean missile fragments across multiple fronts. Satellite imagery analysis indicates that various North Korean weapons are being transported to Russia via land and sea routes. Recent reports suggest that North Korea has supplied Russia with 100 artillery systems, including the KN-23 short-range ballistic missile (North Korea’s version of the Iskander) and advanced 240mm multiple rocket launchers.
