Domestic Chinese brands produced eleven of China’s top 20 passenger vehicle registrations in November 2024. According to the Gasgoo Auto Research Institute (GARI), these brands are BYD, Wuling, Geely, Changan, Chery, Li Auto, Galaxy, Hongqi, Haval, Jetour, and Leapmotor. Five of them made it into the top 10.

BYD registered more than 390,000 units in November 2024 alone, beating Volkswagen by 183,207 units to take first place. Volkswagen came in second with 180,092 units, followed by Toyota in third, Wuling in fourth, Geely in fifth, Changan in sixth, Chery in seventh, and Tesla in eighth. The three German premium brands, BMW, Audi, and Mercedes-Benz, remained in the lower ranks, ranking 10th, 12th, and 15th, respectively.

In the cumulative statistics from January to November 2024, BYD, Volkswagen, and Toyota maintained their positions as the top three brands. BYD was the only brand to record annual cumulative registrations exceeding 3 million units, while Volkswagen and Toyota remained below 2 million units.

Among the top 20 brands in terms of annual cumulative registrations, 11 are Chinese brands, including BYD, Geely, Wuling, Changan, Chery, Li Auto, Aito, Haval, Hongqi, Jetour, and Aion.
